Cavity Wall Extraction
Cavity wall extraction refers to the process of removing material from the gap (or cavity) between the two layers of a cavity wall, typically in buildings with external walls consisting of two layers, a brick outer layer, and an inner block or brick layer.
This cavity is often used for insulation or to allow moisture to escape.
In the context of insulation, cavity wall extraction involves removing old, ineffective, or damaged insulation material, such as foam or mineral wool, which can degrade over time or get wet.
The extraction is necessary for several reasons:
- Energy Efficiency: Replacing old or damaged insulation ensures better thermal efficiency, helping to reduce energy consumption and heating costs.
- Preventing Dampness: If the insulation gets wet, it can lead to dampness and mold, which can affect the building’s structure and air quality.
- Maintaining Structural Integrity: Damp or deteriorating materials can affect the integrity of the cavity wall, leading to long-term issues if not addressed.
- Upgrading Insulation: Newer insulation materials may be more efficient and eco-friendly, enhancing overall building performance.
Cavity wall extraction is essential for maintaining a building’s energy efficiency, structural health, and comfort.
Loft insulation replacement with new industry standards
Loft insulation must meet specific stands in the UK as of 2024.
The minimum thickness is 270 mm and achieve a U-value of 0.16 W/m²K for new homes and 0.18 W/m²K for existing homes.
We use approved materials such as mineral wool, reflective insulation, and eco friendly options like recycled denim or sheeps wool.
Laying of the installation is even, without gaps and free of obstructions.
The right insulation reduces energy consumption and bills and contributes to net zero targets.
Thermal Roof insulation
As well as loft insulation we offer thermal roof insulation.
The new thermal foil insulation offers many benefits to keeping your home warm and bills down.
The thickness of the thermal insulation helps to slow down the conduction of heat. The multi-layers of the foil create airspace that acts as a thermal barrier. The reflective foil bounces the heat back into the home.
During the summer this prevents heat from penetrating the building. Similarly, during the cold months, the foil insulation helps to retain the heat generated inside the property, maintaining a warm and comfortable temperature.
